Abstract

Food security means producing food in a country, with quantities equal to or over demand. It is the synonym of self-sufficiency, and is called the absolute food security. On the other hand, relative food security indicates a country's ability to provide goods and victuals – totally or partially.

يعتبر الاعتماد علي الذات في إنتاج الاحتياجات المحلية من السلع الغذائية وخاصة الرئيسية منها من الأهداف الأساسية التي تسعي الدول للوصول إليه لأن الاعتماد علي الآخرين في استيراد السلع الغذائية يترتب عليه نتائج خطيرة، حيث أصبحت تلك الواردات تمثل أحد عوامل الضغط السياسي إضافة لما تمثله من ضغط علي ميزان المدفوعات مما يؤثر سلبياً علي عمليات التنمية
