Abstract

Rice is a strategic crop in Egypt, in addition to being one of the cheapest resources of energy and carbohydrates necessary for humans.
The research aims at identifying the price differences between local and international prices of rice, and measuring the impact of these changes on both producers and consumers. This is to be done by estimating the partial balance model for identifying the implicit taxes levied, or the size of the local subsidiary on producers and consumers, in the period (1995-2010).

Abstract [العربیة]

يعتبر محصول الأرز من المحاصيل الرئيسية والإستراتيجية الهامة في مصر ، وأيضا من المحاصيل الغذائية الهامة حيث يعتبر من أرخص المصادر الغذائية للحصول علي الطاقة والكربوهيدرات اللازمة لجسم الإنسان،
ويوفر فرصاً للعمل في مضارب الأرز ، كما يدخل ناتجه الثانوي في صناعة الأعلاف المركزة للإنتاج الحيواني، وهو أيضا من المحاصيل التي تحقق اكتفاءا ذاتياً بالإضافة إلي فائض للتصدير مما يعد مصدراً للحصول علي النقد الأجنبي في مصر.
وقد بلغ متوسط الإنتاج المحلي لمحصول الأرز 5759.88 ألف طن في حين بلغ متوسط كمية صادرات الأرز 927.75 ألف طن، وبلغ متوسط السعر العالمي حوالي 2105.30 جنيه/طن خلال الفترة (1995 – 2010)^([1]) .
